There are many motivations for nuclear energy adoption, but for Net Zero Nuclear the focus is on tripling nuclear energy by 2050 to decarbonize the entire economy and provide access to 24/7 clean energy to power development and prosperity.
Net Zero Nuclear was launched by World Nuclear Association (WNA) and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), with the support of the Atoms4NetZero initiative launched by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), at the World Nuclear Symposium in London in 2023.
Noriaki Ozawa, IHI Corporation’s President of Resource, Energy & Environment Business Area, said:
“We are honored to continue participating in the Net Zero Nuclear initiative in 2025, joining global partners in the shared mission to advance decarbonization and address climate change. We are deeply committed to leveraging nuclear energy as a key driver in the transition to a carbon-neutral society.
Through supporting the rapid expansion of nuclear capacity and addressing critical challenges such as fuel cycle management and decommissioning, we strive to achieve our sustainability goal to ‘Create a world where nature and technology work in unity.’”
Dr Sama Bilbao y Leon, Director General of World Nuclear Association said: “We welcome continuing our partnership with IHI Corporation. Achieving the Net Zero Nuclear goal of at least tripling of nuclear capacity by 2050 will require us all to work together, and therefore I welcome IHI to the growing number of companies that have leant us their support.”
